I’m sure there are pieces of our lives that all of us would like to ignore. Of course most of us know that won’t work. Imagine, if you will, that you were to actively try to ignore something that was especially uncomfortable to you in hopes that it would just go away. You might have done just that at one point in your life, but what happened? Did it disappear? Probably not.
In this prompt by The Fake Redhead, that’s what the first speaker is trying to do. Of course the second person logically tries to tell them that won’t work, but do you think they will listen?
It’s hard to say how long this has been going on. Based on the wording, it is entirely possible that this is something new in that person’s life. At the very least I don’t think it’s something that has been going on for years, because most likely they would have figured out that it wouldn’t work a long time ago if that was the case.
For some reason I look at this and I see two people who are fighting a war, soldiers of some kind. I’m not sure if that’s because there has been a lot of that in my reading recently of if it’s something actually to do with the prompt. I’m leaning toward the prior. Who do you see these people as? What kind of problem is the first person trying to ignore and what will they do next in response to the second person?
